What are the cooking instructions for baking a Turducken?Updated 9 days ago
Oven-Baked Turducken Instructions
- Thawing (if frozen): Allow the turducken to thaw completely in the refrigerator. This can take 3–4 days, depending on your fridge temperature.
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F .
- Prep the turducken: Place the turducken breast side up on a rack in a roasting pan. Insert a meat thermometer into the center (not touching the pan or stuffing).
- Cover and bake: Loosely tent the turducken with foil to prevent over-browning. Bake for approximately 5.5 to 6.5 hours (about 25 minutes per pound), basting every 30–45 minutes with pan juices.
- Final temperature check: The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) in the center of the stuffing and meat. Remove the foil during the last 30–45 minutes to allow the skin to brown.
- Rest before carving: Let the turducken rest 20–30 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute and makes carving easier.
Quick Thaw Method: Leave wrapper on bird (May want to further protect the bird by putting the wrapped bird inside a large Ziploc bag) and place in cold water for 6-8 hours, changing the water every hour to maintain a safe thawing temperature.
